University Alliance with UTEP

The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) established a Commercial Real Estate (CRE) Minor in January of 2020. The program offers students the option to complete a series of four (4) classes to obtain a Commercial Real Estate (CRE) Minor through the Department of Economics and Finance in the College of Business.  The classes include courses in finance, investment, and development, as well as Introduction to CRE.

In June of 2020, the UTEP CRE Minor was accepted as a University Partner of the CCIM Institute. Students completing the minor are offered the option to test out of the first (1st) of four (4) core courses needed to obtain the prestigious CCIM Designation as well as many additional benefits. In the fall of 2022, UTEP will be collaborating with the University of Alabama to pilot a new upgrade available to CCIM Institute University Partners. This new upgrade pilot will offer enhanced benefits and opportunities to the students enrolled in both programs.  The nationwide rollout of this new enhanced program will be January of 2023.

UTEP’s CRE minor has experienced over 200% growth since its inception and it’s nothing but “PICKS UP” for the future as the program grows and matures.

From the outset, the Greater El Paso CCIM Chapter has supported UTEP’s CRE Minor initiative, offering both scholarships and mentorship. Chapter members graciously share their time, experience and support through class visits, networking events, job fairs, and sponsorship of students at CCIM events. In 2021, the chapter Board of Directors established an annual endowed scholarship to a qualifying student in the amount of $1,000.00.
